Chinese tech giant Xiaomi announced a new handset for the Chinese market. Named as Mi Play, the new phone has a circular notch with a camera within, but is not a punch-hole design as expected to be seen on Samsung’s rumoured S10 ahead. The rear cameras are a dual sensor setup and vertically aligned similar to Apple’s iPhone X-style.

Below the hood, the Mi Play is powered by a MediaTek P35 processor and is given 4GB or RAM with 64GB of storage. The notched display is a full HD 19:9 5.84-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1080x2280 pixels. The front camera is an 8 megapixel, while the rear cameras are a 12MP and 2MP duo. Fuelling the entire hardware is a 300mAh battery and the handset features a micro USB port.

The Mi Play is an affordable handset in the budget segment and offers around 10GB of data each month, for a year, for its Chinese customers and is priced around Rs 11,000 in China. Xiaomi is offering the handset in three colours — Dream Blue, Twilight Gold and Black.

Adding further to the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Play comes as a Dual SIM handset and features Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It features 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.2 apart from the regular specifications found on handsets today.

As for now, Xiaomi has not mentioned anything about the handset selling into the international market.
