LG will not make Nexus successor this year

LG plans to put all its resources to build it own smartphone instead.

Both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P received Android O as the last major update, following Google's policy of two-year software support and three-year security support.

Mumbai: An LG representative announced at the Mobile World Congress 2016, that the company will not be building a successor to the LG Nexus 5X this year. Even though the Nexus 5X was a success, LG plans to put all the resources in its own smartphone instead.

Launched at MWC 2015, LG’s flagship smartphone of the year, G5, was received quite well be consumers and critics. The LG G5 is a modular smartphone, which is made out of separate components that enables users to replace or upgrade certain functions independently.

Additionally, LG is also working on bringing back the second edition of its smartwatch, the LG Watch Urbane, by the second half of the year. However, nothing about the smartwatch has yet been confirmed.
