Moto E5 Plus 2018 budget smartphone leaked with 18:9 display
The Moto E5 Plus is expected to house a rear fingerprint sensor and a Moto X4-inspired design.
Motorola’s budget midrange G series is due for an overhaul for 2018 and the Internet is getting flooded with Moto G6 leaks and rumours. However, the know-it-all man Evan Blass has recently shared leaked photo of a device claimed to be the new budget Moto E5 Plus smartphone. The leaked photo closely resembles the official shots used by Motorola on their website, which means that this could indeed be the final product we might end up seeing later in the year.
Look closely and you will see that this baby Moto is taking major inspiration from the recently launched Moto X4 premium midrange offering. There’s a similar glass-like rear panel with a familiar camera module. However, don’t be excited to expect a dual camera setup on this baby Moto — Evan says that the second cutting in the camera module isn’t for a secondary lens, i.e. it’s still a single rear camera unit. There’s a fingerprint sensor housed in the ‘Moto dimple’, which was something that fans have been demanding for a long time.
Since this is supposed to be the Plus variant, there’s a big 18:9 display with slightly narrower bezels. It’s not the most good looking narrow-bezel design we have seen on a budget smartphone (the Honor 9 Lite has slimmer bezels than this one). It also seems that there’s an LED flash accompanying the selfie camera on the top. The E5 Plus leaked render also carries the new ‘motorola’ branding on the bottom lip. The E5 Plus is seen running a mostly stock version of Android, equipped with Moto’s personal touched. Hopefully, this should be launched with Android Oreo.
The E5 Plus is expected to be launched after the mainstream G6 series debuts, sometime in April (the leaked image shows a tentative date of April 3 on the clock widget). When launched in India, the E5 Plus could compete with the likes of Redmi Note 5 and Honor 9 Lite.
