Apple's Made in India' iPhone SE 2 launch rumoured to be delayed
The iPhone SE 2 could see reduced price tags to make it an appealing proposition to budget smartphone buyers.
Rumours about the fabled iPhone SE 2 have been doing rounds of the Internet for a while. Some have predicted that the iPhone SE 2 could feature a narrow bezel-display like the iPhone X whereas others are suggesting a mild internal specifications update to the existing model. Whichever becomes a reality, a new rumour suggests that the iPhone SE 2 could be exclusively manufactured in India.
Tekz24’s report claims that Apple’s baby smartphone could be exclusively a ‘Made in India’ unit. The ‘Made in India’ tag could earn Apple some discounts and tax exemptions, which could be passed on to consumers. The iPhone SE is presently the cheapest smartphone Apple manufactures and can be grabbed from various e-commerce platforms for approximately Rs 19,000. Therefore, it’s successor, despite carrying new internals and possibly a new design, Apple would want its iPhone SE 2 to cater to the midrange smartphone seeker.
However, for all those holding on to their decision of waiting for the iPhone SE 2, there’s bad news. The report claims that the iPhone SE 2 wouldn’t show up at tonight’s Apple educational event and even the WWDC slated to take place in June of this year. This is possibly due to the fact that Apple has to face certain government regulations and policies in the country, which is indirectly delaying the launch. The iPhone SE 2 could, therefore, break cover possibly with 2018 range of Apple flagships slated to be unveiled sometime in September 2018.
We should draw your attention to the fact there’s a high possibility of this information never converting itself to reality. The very existence of the iPhone SE 2 is doubtful, considering the price point the world of rumours wants it to target. If there’s an iPhone SE 2, expect it to feature an A11 Bionic chipset and FaceID biometric authentication enclosed in a body roughly the size of the existing iPhone SE.
