Accessories are also eligible for the extended warranties offered by the four Chinese smartphone makers
Chennai: Phone and wearables users reaching the end of their warranty periods amid the coronavirus lockdown need not worry. Chinese smartphone makers OnePlus, realme, Oppo and Huawei have extended their warranty support.
OnePlus
On its blog, OnePlus said that it would be extending warranty support up to May 31 for phones and other devices whose warranty expires between March 1 and May 30.
OnePlus has also extended the return and replacement period on new phones from 15 to 30 days, and will also provide two-way free shipping for all returns, replacements and repairs.
If your phone is out for repair, OnePlus is also working on arranging a back-up device so that you are able to stay connected in this crucial time when smartphones are the only way of keeping in touch with your loved ones under lockdown. The service is not yet available for India, but the blog promises the service soon.
Huawei, Honor
Huawei has offered the longest extended warranty. Warranties expiring between March 21 to June 21 will be extended till June 31 for all its smartphones, including Honor phones, MateBooks, and its smart gear and other accessories.
To get individual information, users must share their product details on the Huawei India website.
In addition, Huawei is also offering VIP Customer Services for its Huawei Watch GT and Huawei Watch GT2 users. It will pick-up and drop devices that need replacement, at your doorstep.
The top Chinese telecom equipment maker said it would extend this service to users of its smart watches whose warranties have expired too. Spare parts, including strap, charging base, back cover, screen and mainboard, can be replaced with this door-step service. Check out the Huawei India app or website for the price list of spare parts.

If you have purchased an Oppo phone or accessory from an authorised online retailer or offline store, warranty on the product that expires after March 23 will be extended indefinitely, until such date that the company will later announce.
Apart from smartpones, the extended warranty also applies to various accessories such as chargers, data cables, internal batteries and earphones.
If you have chosen an add-on service such as damage protection or one-time screen replacement, those will also be extended till further notice.
