Huawei Mate 10 to boast bezel-less display, confirms CEO
The CEO has also confirmed that the device will go directly against the likes of the upcoming iPhone.
Bezel-less displays on the smartphones has become a norm in the industry. Major smartphone makers such as Samsung, LG and Xiaomi have already started dipping their hats in the bezel-less display loop. Now Huawei CEo has confirmed that the company will launch its flagship Mate 10 with a bezel-less screen.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Richard Yu confirmed that the Mate 10 will be launched around the time Apple unveils its flagship, meaning the launch will happen in September. The CEO has also confirmed that the device will go directly against the likes of the upcoming iPhone.
"We will have an even more powerful product," Yu says. "The Mate 10, which has much longer battery life with a full-screen display, quicker charging speed, better photographing capability and many other features that will help us compete with Apple."
Huawei also plans to bring its own AI processor this year. But it is still unclear whether the Mate 10 will incorporate the AI processor. Earlier, there were reports that the smartphone will feature face recognition, support for Augmented Reality and 3D touch sensitivity as well. The smartphone is tipped to have Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC at its heart based on the 10nm process.
Other expected features include a 6-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, identical to the previously launched LG G6. Optics wise, the Mate 10 will have the Lieca-branded sensor.
