Andy Rubin's Essential Phone is finally here

The device is made titanium and ceramic that claims to provide high level durability.

Android’s co-founder Andy Rubin has finally unveiled the first line of products from Essential. The line-up includes the Essential Phone, an intelligent home speaker and a 360-degree camera. The smartphone comes with high-end features and comes in four colour options. The device is already up for pre-orders in the US, however the company is yet to announce the availability of the device. The price of the smartphone starts at $699 (approx Rs. 45,200), and $749 (approx Rs. 48,400) if purchased with the 360-degree camera.

In terms of design, the smartphone looks aesthetically pleasing and sports an edge-to-edge display with the front camera tucked into the screen. The rear panel houses a fingerprint sensor and a dual camera setup. There are two magnetic pins for modular accessories. The device is made titanium and ceramic that claims to provide high level durability.

The magnetic pins can be used for the modular accessories launched alongside – the 360-degree camera and its Essential Phone Dock. The smartphone is also sans the 3.5mm audio jack. The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 835 octa-core (2.45GHz Quad + 1.9GHz Quad) processor with Adreno 540 GPU, 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

On the connectivity front, it offers 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GPS, USB Type-C port, Nano-SIM support, and GLONASS.
