Xiaomi Mi 8 with Snapdragon 845 chipset, 3D face unlock launched
The Mi 8 flaunts a 6.21-inch full HD+ Samsung AMOLED display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio.
Xiaomi has launched its latest flagship at its annual product launch event in China. The Chinese company has also unveiled a Mi 8 Explorer Edition that comes with exclusive features such as an in-display fingerprint sensor, 3D face recognition and a transparent back. Xiaomi also took the wraps off the Mi 8 SE, the Mi Band 3 and the latest MIUI 10.
The Mi 8 flaunts a 6.21-inch full HD+ Samsung AMOLED display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. At its heart, the device runs on Snapdragon 845 chipset aided by a 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant. The 8GB variant is exclusive to the Explorer Edition. The Mi 8 is said to have scored 301472 in Antutu benchmark test.
The smartphone is kept alive by a 3400mAh battery. Both the Mi 8 and the Explorer Edition support Quick Charge 4.0+ but is sold with a standard 18W Quick Charge 3.0 charger.
In terms of optics, the handset features a dual rear camera setup that consists of a 12MP camera sensor with 1.4-micron pixels, OIS, dual-pixel autofocus, AI portraits, AI scene detection. Upfront, the Mi 8 sports a 20MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, AI portrait selfies, and beautify. The phone comes equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The Mi 8 carries a price tag of CNY 2,699 (approximately Rs 28,600) for the 6GB RAM/64GB variant, CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs 31,600) for the 6GB/128GB variant, and CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs 34,800) for the 6GB RAM/256GB variant. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition will be available for CNY 3,699 (approximately Rs 39,000) for the 8GB/128GB variant.
