Hyderabad: Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed Advocate General A. Sudershan Reddy to get instructions from the office of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly as to the stage of the disqualification petitions, seeking action against BRS legislators, who had since defected to other parties.

Disqualification petitions were filed before the Speaker by BRS leaders seeking action against Danam Nagender, (Khairatabad), Venkata Rao Tellam (Bhadrachalam) and Kadiam Srihari (Ghanpur-SC Reserved) for defecting to the Congress without resigning from the post of MLAs after the conclusion of the 2023 Assembly Elections.

On the last date of hearing, upon the directions of Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, the disqualification petitions pertaining to the three MLAs were handed over to the government pleader for general administration, who in turn ensured that these petitions reached the office of the Speaker.

The court had also issued notices to the three MLAs, the state government, ECI and the state’s chief electoral officer on April 15 directing them to respond.
