Loud music: Drive against pubs intensifies

Police clarified that pubs cannot claim exemption on the grounds that they are not situated in any residential locality

Hyderabad: After holding awareness programmes, police have started drives on pubs to ensure that they comply with the orders of the High Court on stopping music by 10 pm. Cases are being registered against all those violating norms. Police clarified that pubs cannot claim exemption on the grounds that they are not situated in any residential locality.

K. Shilpavalli, DCP Madhapur, told Deccan Chronicle “Since we began checks on pubs, eight cases have been registered for violation of court orders. Repeated offences will lead to strict action.”  “Our teams will counsel pub owners on the court orders. We are registering cases against those not complying with the orders,” said a city police official.
