Japanese woman suffers burns after her fart triggers fire mid-surgery
The woman was undergoing a laser surgery on her cervix, when she ended up farting, thus igniting the laser.
Tokyo: A Japanese woman in her mid-thirties was left seriously burnt during a surgical procedure in Tokyo after she parted wind during the procedure, igniting a laser.
According to reports, the incident took place in Tokyo Medical University Hospital.
The woman, whose name and identity has not been disclosed, was undergoing a laser surgery on her cervix, when she ended up farting, thus igniting the laser.
She is said to have suffered serious burns due to the accident, including to her waist and legs.
The incident happened in April, but came to light after a medical panel, constituted to look into the case, released a report on the incident recently. The report categorically states that no other inflammable substance was present in the operation theatre.
