Hyderabad: Student protests that emerged opposing the quotas proposed by Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh have turned into a mass movement prompting the PM to resign and flee the country on Monday.

The Military chief of Bangladesh announced the formation of an interim government led by Nobel peace laureate Muhammad Yunus.
It is in this backdrop that social media reports claiming that Bangladeshi Hindu cricketer Liton Das's house was set on fire by protesters. However, the reports are misleading and false.
According to reports published on 'United News of Bangladesh' and 'Dhaka Tribune', it is clarified that the house that is shown as the one belonging to Liton Das is actually the house of former Bangladesh Cricket Captain and Sheikh Hasina's Awami League party MP -- Mustafi Mortaza.
Violent Protesters vandalised properties and houses of many leaders belonging to the Awami League including Narail house of MP Mortaza.
Moreover, the video of Shakib-al-Hasan that is in circulation with a claim that he was supporting the students has also been identified as misleading, since the video is from 2018 and does not have any connection with the ongoing protests.
