Donald Trump’s Inauguration: Who’s on the Guest List and Who’s Not

Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20. Along with Trump, JD Vance will also be sworn in as the Vice President during the same event.

Breaking the traditions, Trump has invited foreign presidents and prime ministers to the inauguration. As per reports, Trump has raised $170 million for the inauguration. The amount raised by Trump is twice the amount secured by President Joe Biden for the inauguration, which is $62 million, as per the Federal Election Commission Records.
Invitations for the inauguration were extended to countries including India. Here is the list of invited guests:
Joe Biden
Joe Biden confirmed that he will attend Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. However, Trump did not attend Joe Biden’s swearing-in as 46th US President, becoming the first president in 150 years to avoid an inauguration.
Xi-Jinping
Chinese President Xi-Jinping was sent an invitation by Trump for the ceremony. As per reports, he may not attend the event but may send a senior official in his place.
Giorgia Meloni
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said, ”If I can, I will gladly participate.” she said. Meloni was earlier invited by Trump to his inauguration and a dinner and movie at Mar-a-Lago.
Javier Milei
Last month, a spokesperson confirmed to CBS News that Argentine President Javier Milei plans to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony. Milei is said to have a close relationship with Trump.
Nayib Bukele
Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele was reportedly invited by Trump, but it is unclear if Bukele will attend the event.
Jair Bolsonaro
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on X said that he had received the invitation from Donald Trump and is trying to get his passport back so that he could attend the event.
Takeshi Iwaya
Japanese foreign minister Takeshi Iwaya confirmed that he plans to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to represent India
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent India at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
“On the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the Swearing-In Ceremony of President-Elect Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
“During the visit, EAM will also have meetings with representatives of the incoming Administration, as well as some other dignitaries visiting the US on that occasion,” it added.
Other leaders
Far-right French politician Eric Zemmour and his partner, European Parliament member Sarah Knafo, have been invited, reported Politico citing sources.
Who are not invited?
Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un have reportedly not received invitations for the inauguration. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also did not receive any invitation for the ceremony.
Billionaires
Other than Trump’s ally, Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will attend the inauguration. Both Meta and Amazon donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s inauguration fund.
