Russian man kills family, including wife and 6 children, over son's haircut
Belov stabbed his wife with a knife and later proceeded to kill his six children one by one, before dismembering them.
Nizhny Novgorod, Russia: In a horrifying incident, a Russian man hacked his wife and six minor children to death in a fit of rage after he found out that his son had a 'parrot' haircut.
Identified as Oleg Belov, the 53-year-old accused has been sentenced to life in prison after he hacked his family to death with a chopper.
The incident is believed to have taken place at the accused's home in Nizhny Novgorod city in Russia.
During investigation, Belov also confessed to sprinkling the dead bodies with cologne and perfume to prevent them from stinking.
During his trial in the court, Belov told prosecutors that he got furious after his wife cropped their six-year-old son Fyodor's hair -- and his hairdo looked almost like a parrot.
"She cut him like a parrot," Belov was quoted as saying. He also added that the only reason for killing his wife was that she threatened to divorce him and take the kids away from him.
Belov said that he feared that his children would go away from him and that he would be left all alone.
To prevent his wife from doing so, he decided to kill her. He said that he stabbed her in the right side with a knife and later proceeded to kill his children too -- so that they would never leave him.
The court heard that he was suffering from some 'mental disorder' but was not 'insane'.
Belov admitted to first killing his wife, then their daughters. He then rushed to the bathroom where his son Fyodor was hiding, whom he stabbed at least four times.
But Belov didn't stop at that.
After slaughtering his entire family, he left for his village where his 73-year-old mother lived alone. While stabbing her 21 times, Belov kept repeating, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Belov will serve his sentence at one of the harshest penal colonies in Russia.
