7-yr-old boy suffers head injury after school bullies push him onto metal rod

Telford: In one of the most severe cases of bullying, a 7-year-old boy had his head pushed onto a metal rod by an alleged bully and his friends at their school in Telford, Shropshire.

On March 23, the accused was allegedly beating the victim, Jak, up and pushed him hard. He hit his head on a metal pole.

According to a report in Daily Mail, the resultant injury was an open wound on the boy’s head, which soon became infected. The victim also underwent surgery for the gaping wound.

However, this was not the first time the boy was brutally attacked. On earlier occasions, the bullies had whipped him with skipping ropes, stabbed with paper clips and pencils and hit in the face with a tennis racket, his mother Laney said. In another incident, the bullies had also stamped on the boy’s head.

She added that he was hospitalised and was on a morphine drip for six days.
The bump swelled the next days and his mother rushed him to the hospital, where the medics brushed away her concerns saying that the injury was a mild brain trauma.

However, the wound which contained a blood clot and pus was drained out using an electric vacuum drain. The Mercia police did not do anything to punish the alleged bully since he is below 10 years of age.

Laney was quoted as saying, “Jak is lying in a bed on strong medication with tubes coming out of him whilst the bully has carried on with life as normal. My son has been in a hospital bed for six days, not once has the bully missed a break time or received any punishment.”

She stressed on the need to stand up against bullies and make a change. The police received “a report of an assault at a school in the Telford area in which a seven-year-old boy was injured.”
