UK mom confesses killing minor children after husband said he met someone else
Lesley Dunford, 37, was convicted for manslaughter of Lucy, 3, and six month old Harley.
Exeter, Devon: In a shocking revelation, a mother who had been jailed for murder of two minor children, has finally confessed to committing the crime, which she had earlier denied, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Lesley Dunford, 37, was convicted for manslaughter of Lucy, 3, and six month old Harley. Earlier when Harley was found dead in his cot, Lesley claimed innocence stating that it was a case of natural death. But when her 3-year-old daughter Lucy died six months after Harley's death, police found it suspicious and booked Lesley for manslaughter.
Lesley was imprisoned for seven years in 2012 for murdering both her minor children. During her years in the prison, she repeatedly pleaded that she was innocent and had nothing to do with the murders.
Her husband, Wayne Dunford, 58, kept supporting her for four years and believed that his wife could never harm their children. Even though Lesley was convicted of the crime, Wayne decided to stand by her through the trial and support her until the end.
It was only after four years when Wayne told Lesley that he has moved on in life and found a new partner that Lesley broke her silence on the death of her kids. She wrote a letter to Wayne confessing that she was the one who murdered their children. The letter read, "Yes, I could have told you in 2004 but I was scared what your reaction would have been. I am so sorry."
She wrote, “I went back into the room, walked over to his cot and pushed Harley's face into the mattress until he stopped breathing.”
Commenting on his new love life, Lesley wrote, “I'm just frustrated that you did what you did but hey-ho life goes on and I have moved on and will start again when I come out of jail.”
Devastated with the fact that he was supporting his children’s killer since four years, a traumatised Wayne said that, “To only find out in a prison letter from Lesley that she had killed one of our children was awful enough. But to hear she murdered our baby as well is totally gut-wrenching.”
Lesley has pleaded guilty of murder at Old Bailey court in London and faces up to 13 years in prison.
