Stay vigilant, Exercise Due Caution: High Commission Advises Indians Travelling to UK

The Indian High Commission in London on Tuesday advised Indians travelling to United Kingdom to stay vigilant and exercise due caution amid the ongoing protests in the country.
The High Commission said that it is closely monitoring the situation. "It is advisable to follow local news and advisories issued by local security agencies, and to avoid areas where protests are underway," it said in a post on X.
This comes after violent protests in several cities in UK, which was triggered by the stabbing deaths of three young girls in Southport, England.
Three young girls were stabbed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance event in Southport. This incident was exploited by anti-immigrant and anti-muslim groups, leading to unrest in the country. Many social media posts said that the suspected attacker was a Muslim immigrant, resulting in anti-immigrant riots in many towns in UK, including London and Manchester.
Rioters targeted Mosques and hotels housing asylum-seekers. This led to the arrest of around 400 people.
In a post on X, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, "This is not protest, it is pure violence. We will have a standing army of public duty officers. We will ramp up criminal justice. We will apply criminal law online as well as offline. We will not tolerate attacks on mosques or on Muslim communities."
