US and Gulf states united in goal to 'destroy' ISIS: Obama

The summit meeting was held in the Saudi capital with the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council.

Riyadh: US President Barack Obama said on Thursday that Washington and the Arab monarchies of the Gulf were united in their commitment to defeating the Islamic State jihadist group.

"We remain united in our fight to destroy ISIL," he said, using another acronym for IS, at the close of a summit meeting in the Saudi capital with the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council.
