Nepal: Woman beaten to death on charges of practicing witchcraft

Police uncovered the incident 15 days after the murder and have arrested three people of the same village on murder charges.

Kathmandu: A 55-year-old Nepalese woman was beaten to death and later buried in a forest by her relatives for allegedly practicing witchcraft, police said on Sunday.

Tulu Sarki Thing of Yarsa village in Rasuwa district, 125 km east of Kathmandu, was beaten to death by her relatives for allegedly practicing witchcraft, they said.

Police uncovered the incident 15 days after the murder and have arrested three people of the same village on murder charges, according to Abdesh Bista, Rasuwa district police chief.

Two of the arrested are said to be the victim's brother-in -law and his wife.
