Asif Ali Zardari sent to 10-day remand

PPP workers were kept away from the courthouse premises. At least 500 personnel of Islamabad police were stationed for security.

Islamabad: A Pakistani accountability court on Tuesday approved 10-day physical remand of former president and Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

The court has handed over the erstwhile president to the National Accountability Bureau and directed the anti-corruption watchdog to produce Zardari before it on June 21 after interrogations.  PPP workers were kept away from the courthouse premises. At least 500 personnel of Islamabad police were stationed for security. As many as 300 policemen were deployed around the court, while another 200 were stationed along the routes to the court from the bureau’s office in Rawalpindi.
