7 killed, 9 injured due to lightning strike in Pakistan

Rescue officials said that the house was dilapidated due to which it caved in.

Lahore: At least seven persons including four women and two children of the same family were killed and nine others injured today when lightning struck their two-storey house in Pakistan's Punjab province.

The incident took place near Purana Chowk area in the Khushab district of the province. The roof of the house collapsed after lightning hit the house, entrapping the residents under the rubble.

At least seven persons of the same family were killed while nine others injured as the family was trapped under debris, The Express Tribune reported. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Rescue officials said that the house was dilapidated due to which it caved in.

In October last year, at least six persons including three children were killed and four others injured after lightning struck their houses in two separate incidents in the country's restive Balochistan province.
