Indus river, one of oldest and longest rivers, has been discovered to be hoarding an extraordinary amount of gold, leaving everyone in awe.
The massive gold reserve has been found by Pakistan in Punjab province. The Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP) has identified around 32.6 metric tonne of gold deposits, costing around 600 billion Pakistani rupees, according to media reports.
The Indus river, is known for sustaining millions with its abundant water resources is now being recognized as a source of immense wealth.

Reports say that due to the illegal mining activities in the gold-rich Indus river, the Pakistani government has enforced Section 144, to prohibit extraction of gold.
Reports say that during winter, when the water level in the river decreases, locals collect gold particles from the riverbed. A report by the Khyber Pakthunkhwa provincial government of Pakistan reveals that gold is getting carried down from the Himalayan region and accumulating around Peshawar.
The discovery of gold comes at a crucial time for Pakistan, which is facing severe economic challenges.
The discovery was announced by Punjab's mining minister, after detailed geological investigations.
