Be people's voice, Pawan Kalyan tells MLAs

VIJAYAWADA: Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has advised his party MLAs to ensure that their speeches in the Assembly reflected the hopes and aspirations of the people who elected them as their representatives.

“People have high hopes and aspirations and gave a resounding mandate to us. With a 100 per cent strike rate, they elected and sent us to the legislative Assembly,” he said.

The deputy CM was speaking at a sensitisation programme he organised for MLAs to educate them on the rules and regulations of the legislative Assembly. It was held at his camp office here.

“A majority of the MLAs elected from the JS are new to House affairs. We should gain knowledge about the House norms and traditions,” Pawan Kalyan said.

“The MLAs should devote the first 100 days to learning and researching administrative things and gain first-hand information on government departments, schemes and their implementation. They must check whether the government schemes are reaching the beneficiaries properly or not,” Pawan Kalyan said.

The JS chief said the state government would crack down on ganja, drug peddling and blade batch gangs, which have played havoc with public life. “The MLAs should help maintain law and order and the highest priority should be for women’s safety.”

The Deputy CM asked his legislators not to use abusive language and communicate in a simple and polite language when they met government officers or employees for discussions and listen to the public woes patiently.

The party would felicitate MPs and MLAs and asked the MLAs to, in turn, take the programme to the constituency level and felicitate the Jana Sainiks, Veera Mahilas and volunteers who had strived for the party’s victory in the elections.

Also, the MLAs should conduct the Jana Vani programme in their constituencies every month which brought Jana Sena closer to the people,” Pawan Kalyan added.
