What's important right now are her feelings: Farhan Akhtar on his divorce

Ahead of his impending concert in Chennai, Farhan Akhtar seems to be in a pretty relaxed mood — which is surprising, considering the Bollywood star has been mired in controversy after news of his separation with wife Adhuna broke to widespread shock. While the couple have asked for space and privacy from the media, we needed to know — how is he holding up? “I’m actually holding up pretty ok because it was amicably done,” the multi-faceted actor reveals. “What’s important right now are her feelings, our children’s feelings and to make sure it’s as civil as possible,” Farhan reveals, refusing to say any more on the subject.

But otherwise, this year has been a successful one, career-wise. Wazir gave a good start to 2016 for the actor-musician who starred in the action-thriller. His schedule is packed to the brim, to say the least. But Chennaiites need not fret as they can catch him performing live in the city in February. “I’m very excited to perform in Chennai. It’s my second time here; the last time we played was with the band Skrat for the song Mutant Machas. This time, it’s going to be for a cause, so that’s adding to the excitement as well,” Farhan smiles.

Sadly, he’ll be in namma ooru only for two days — “Right now I’m busy shooting for Rock On 2.” Farhan reprises his role from the first movie as musician Aditya Shroff. But there are many other things we can look forward to, especially the music. “As the title suggests, it’s going to be a lot of rock — but with a slightly more contemporary touch. It’s more evolved, just like the characters who have grown since the first movie. The music in Rock On was more young and grungier, to suit the context of the film,” he explains.

With his string of collaborations with various other musicians in Bollywood, will we be able to hear him croon a Tamil song soon and work with A.R. Rahman? He laughs, “Rather than saying that I am thinking of working with him, the question is if he’s thinking of working with me! I believe in not saying ‘no’ to anything in life, so you never know. I would love to collaborate with ARR because I’m a big fan of his, and follow his work closely.”

Farhan also reveals that he loves to indulge in adventurous sports, when not shooting. When quizzed about how he maintains his fit and trim appearance, he says, “Oh that’s just because of the weather.” Farhan quips, “It preserves my looks!”
