All-New Kia Seltos Awarded 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The certification was presented to Kia India by Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, at a special ceremony.

Pune: The all-new Kia Seltos has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP), securing the highest-ever score for an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle in India with 76.70 out of 100 combined points.

The SUV scored 31.70/32 points for adult occupant protection and 45/49 points for child protection, with standard features including 6 airbags and electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist control (HAC), and all-wheel disc brakes.

The new Kia Seltos SUV is tagged at Rs 11 to Rs 20 lakh at Delhi showroom.

Seltos frontal impact post test

Gwanggu Lee, MD and CEO at Kia India, stated that safety is a core part of Kia’s product philosophy.

“This milestone sets a new benchmark for safety and reflects our commitment to bringing globally benchmarked safety standards to customers in India,” he noted.

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Seltos offered good protection to the head and neck of the driver and passenger. Chest and lower body protection was also rated as good.

Seltos frontal impact during test

The Seltos offered good protection to the occupants in the side movable deformable barrier and side pole impact tests.

Dynamic tests were conducted with the use of child restraint systems. The Seltos received a dynamic score of 24/24 and a CRS installation score of 12/12. The vehicle assessment score was 9/13.

The test car was equipped with frontal airbags, side head curtain and side chest airbags, seatbelt pretensioner, load-limited, seatbelt reminder, ESC, and ISOFIX.
