Mercedes-Benz G 400d launched at Rs 2.55 crore
PUNE: Mercedes-Benz, India’s biggest German luxury car maker, on Thursday introduced the much-awaited updated G-Class line-up in the Indian market. The new G 400d replaces the popular G 350d, which was launched in 2019.
The imported Mercedes G 400d is priced at Rs 2.55 crore at pan India showroom, which is Rs 83 lakh more than the outgoing G 350d.
The Mercedes G 400d is available in two trims: 'AMG Line' and an India-specific 'Adventure Edition'.
Bookings for the G400d have opened at Rs 1.5 lakh. With the new G-Class, Mercedes continues with its focus on the top-end of the luxury vehicle segment for the Indian market.
The Mercedes G 400d will rival the popular Land Rover Defender and the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in the Indian market.
Deliveries for the G 400d are expected to begin in the last quarter of this year.
The AMG Line comes with 20-inch wheels, a sunroof, ambient lighting, Nappa leather upholstery and a Burmester audio system.
The key highlights of the G 400d Adventure Edition include a roof rack, spare wheel holder, full-size spare wheel on the tailgate, logo projector and multifunction wheel with Nappa leather upholstery.
Powering the G 400d is an inline 6-cylinder diesel engine that makes 326 BHP and 700 Nm. The engine is mated to a 4-wheel drive system via a low-range gearbox. Mercedes claims a 0-100 km/h time of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.
“Top-end vehicles remain our constant focus, as the segment continues to draw outstanding response from discerning customers. Today we are thrilled to introduce the New G-Class, a vehicle that is stronger than time and enjoys a cult status,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO at Mercedes-Benz India.
