BMW drives in X5 facelift at Rs 93.90 lakh
PUNE: BMW, India’s second biggest German luxury car maker, on Friday introduced the BMW X5 Facelift SUV with a starting price of Rs 93.90 lakh at pan India showroom.
The locally made refreshed SUV is offered with petrol and diesel engines and in xLine and M Sport trim levels, with prices starting at Rs 93.90 lakh and going up to Rs 1.06 crore for the top end.
Both the variants also get a 48V mild-hybrid system.
“The ever increasingly popular BMW X5 model, which created a new SUV segment in India, contributed over 10 per cent of our total sales last year,” Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India told Financial Chronicle. He said the new X5 will both sell more units and expand the SUV luxury market.
The new BMW X5 competes with the Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Range Rover Velar.
The BMW xDrive 40i is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 381hp and 520 Nm of torque, while the BMW xDrive 30d variant is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine, and churns out 286hp and 650 Nm of torque.
Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive system. Both engines also get an electric motor which produces 12hp and 200 Nm of torque. The SUV rides on adaptive air suspension with a self-levelling function.
The new BMW X5 is loaded with a lot of safety tech, including driver assistance systems. Features such as cruise control, attentiveness assistant, parking assistant professional with surround view camera, drive recorder, remote parking via smartphone and reversing assistant are part of the standard package.
While the petrol SUV can accelerate from 0-100kph in a claimed 5.4 seconds, the diesel engine achieves the same in a claimed 6.1 seconds.
