Porsche launches new Macan sports at Rs 70 lakh
PUNE: Porsche, the German super sports luxury car maker, has launched the Porsche Macan SUV facelift in India, with entry-level, four-cylinder model priced at Rs 69.98 lakh, and the V6-engined Porsche Macan S priced at Rs 85.03 lakh to boost sales in Asia's third biggest economy.
The Macan pricing makes it a whole Rs 10.4 lakh cheaper than the outgoing model Macan Turbo and competes with the likes of the Audi Q5 and Jaguar F-Pace, among others.
The aggressive pricing is to ensure that the Macan is accessible to a wider buyer base and is seen as a real alternative to its German rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi.
The entry-level Macan packs a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that develops 252hp and 370Nm of torque.
Those seeking a more powerful engine will be interested in the Macan S, which is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine that makes 354hp and 480Nm of torque. This means the Macan S can do 0-100kmph in just 5.3 seconds (1.4 seconds quicker than the four-cylinder Macan) and clock a top speed of 254 kmph.
What's remarkable is that at Rs 85 lakh, the facelifted Macan S costs just Rs 5 lakh more than the pre-facelift, four-cylinder Macan, and Rs 7 lakh more than its rival-in-chief, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43.
For the first time in India, the Macan facelift will be available with customised service packages priced starting at Rs 1.43 lakh for the base Macan and going up to Rs 1.52 lakh for the Macan S.
"The Macan has been one of our most successful series in India and with the new generation combining even more pronounced Porsche DNA, greater performance and comfort, I am confident that the success story is sure to continue," Pavan Shetty, Director at Porsche India, said.
He said the Macan is the most exciting compact SUV on the market, never allowing to forget it is a true sports car at heart.
