Jaguar Land Rover launches the new Defender Octa
Pune: Tata Motors-owned British luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover on Wednesday globally unveiled the new 'Octa' variant of its flagship Defender SUV which will be available in the Indian market in the July-September quarter with a starting price of Rs 2.65 crore.
The new Land Rover Defender Octa is the model's most tough and powerful variant to date, promising unprecedented levels of performance, luxury, and off-road capability.
The new Defender Octa is set to redefine what a luxury off-road vehicle can achieve.
Powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged mild-hybrid V8 engine, this model is the most extreme and powerful Defender ever. It produces 626 BHP and up to 800 Nm and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The company claims the Defender Octa can sprint from 0-60 mph (0-98 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph (249.4 km/h).
The vehicle’s dynamic capabilities are enhanced by heavily revised chassis components and innovative 6D Dynamics suspension technology, ensuring both on-road and off-road prowess.

Its powerful V8 engine, groundbreaking suspension technology, and exquisite finishes make it incredibly tough and inherently desirable,” Mark Cameron, Managing Director of Defender, boasted in a statement.
The Land Rover Defender Octa will make its public debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK on July 11.
