Arjas Steel to invest Rs. 350 crore at its Tadipatri unit

Anantapur: Arjas Steel Private Limited (ASPL) on Wednesday announced a Rs. 610 crore capacity expansion at its two plants in Tadipatri of Anantapur district in AP and Mandi Gobindhgarh in Punjab.

While the current production capacity at Tadipatri unit is 300,000 tonnes per year, it is 100,000 tonnes per year in Gobindhgarh. Capacity at both these plants will be increased by investing Rs. 350 crore in Tadipatri and Rs. 260 crore in Gobindgarh, ASPL managing director Sridhar Krishnamoorthy said.

“Expansions at both the places have already started and will be completed in 2025. This investment will make Arjas a frontrunner in the supply chain for supplying critical inputs in energy, automotive, railway and defence segments as well as exports,” the MD explained.

The expansion will de-bottleneck capacity, improve product quality and add value substantially in downstream facilities.

Arjas manufactures various carbon, alloy and micro-alloy steels in profiles like rounds, round-cornered squares, hexagonal bars and flat bars. These find critical applications in automotive, energy, defence, railways and other growing sectors of Indian economy.

“The capacity expansion has been necessitated to meet the rising demand from these sectors,” Krishnamoorthy disclosed.

As part of expansion, Tadipatri will get a state-of-the-art KOCKS sizing block from Germany. This will help improve quality and throughput. A Garret coiler line is also being added to produce specialty steel in coil form.

These apart, new stoves and more steel refining capacity will be added to boost output at Tadipatri by 25–30 percent, the ASPL MD stated.
