Jio Partners With AP Govt For 4G Connectivity to Remote Villages in Andhra Pradesh
VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh CM Shri Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated 100 towers set up by Reliance Jio on Thursday. In an event organised on Thursday at his Camp Office, CM has virtually launched 85 towers in Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district, 10 towers in Parvathipuram Manyam district, 3 towers in Annamayya district and 2 towers in YSR district.
Under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) project, Jio in partnership with AP State Government, has set up these towers to extend 4G services to the remotest areas of the state. These towers will cater to about 209 remote villages in 4 districts. CM interacted with the tribals of these areas through video conference.
Jio is ready to set up towers in 2,704 areas across the state. The Government has already allotted 2,363 places for this purpose. By December, the Government has prepared activities for setting up towers in all areas. Jio will also upgrade these towers to 5G services in future.
AP IT Minister Shri Gudivada Amarnath, Chief Secretary Dr. K S Jawahar Reddy, IT Secretary Shri Kona Sasidhar, Jio Andhra Pradesh CEO Shri Mandapalli Mahesh Kumar, SCO Head Shri Ravinatha Reddy and other representatives attend the event. Respective District Collectors, Public representatives and public joined the launch event through video conference.
