Hyderabad: The TS government, which has taken up several welfare and developmental schemes, is banking heavily on Excise revenues in financial year 2016-2017, with the Excise department setting an ambitious revenue target of Rs 14,161.07 crore. In 2015-2016, the department raked in Rs 12,143.88 crore and in 2014-15, the revenue it got was Rs 10,238.78 crore.
In fact, the Revenue department has set month-wise targets this financial year to achieve the goal and is going all out to achieve the targeted revenues before the end of this financial year.
“We plugged loopholes. We expect better results this financial year too,” Excise commissioner R.V. Chandravadan said. “If all goes well, we will earn Rs 14,161.07 crore this year, about 20 per cent more compared to the last financial year. Our officials did a tremendous job,” he said.
