Kozhikode: Mission to promote rural entrepreneurs
KOZHIKODE: In order to promote entrepreneurs from the rural side of the district, Kerala Start up mission as part of its initiative to develop a start up environment in Kozhikode, will soon start a incubation center. The project is being introduced as part of the startup projects introduced by the State Government in connection with the Startup Village Entrepreneurship programme (SVEP) by the Union Ministry for Rural Development. As part of the project, aspiring entrepreneurs from the rural areas will be offered space, financial as well as technical support to build their ideas into reality.
The Government is also planning to give similar support to around 200 startups at present operating in the State and also those which will emerge soon. Speaking about the project, one of the district representatives of Startup mission Mehar Moosa said, “The major aim behind boosting entrepreneurs from the rural side of the district is to help evaluate the viability of entrepreneurial ventures in rural areas. It has been noted that a lot of young entrepreneurs from the rural side migrate to other States with their project or idea and develop it there as they lack a suitable space in their own land”.
He said that, through the initiative, the Mission was helping them to build their venture sitting in their own homeland. The project is expected to be launched in two months time and till then the Mission’s work was to identify suitable spaces in the rural areas to start the incubation centers. “Even if students come up with effective ideas, it will be considered and allowed to be worked upon,” he added.
