VISHAKHAPATNAM: The second G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting under G20 Indian Presidency, under way here for three days from Tuesday, will deliberate on various aspects of infrastructure growth and identify the instruments for mobilizing resources for such investment.
Briefing the media on Monday, joint secretary to the Union finance ministry Solomon Arokiaraj said 63 delegates from G20 member nations are participating in the events. Of them, 57 would be physically present.
Various official meetings and cultural programmes have been planned for the delegates. In addition to the formal discussions, the delegates will be treated to the city’s rich culture and beautiful landscapes.
A Roundtable on infrastructure taxonomies is also being organised in partnership with the Global Infrastructure Hub. This event would have participation of experts from key international organisations such as UNDP, OECD, IMF, ADB and EBRD.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would host a gala dinner for the delegates, styled as “Ratri Bhoj Par Samvad’ (conversation over dinner), to also expose the delegates to the rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh and enable them relish the local cuisines, senior official Arokiaraj said.
On March 30, a capacity-building workshop for the G20 delegates would follow the two-days of deliberations. During the workshop, experts from Korea and Singapore would discuss the international best practices of urban infrastructure financing.
The Union finance ministry would steer the G20 infrastructure agenda to ensure that the G-20 acts as a global prime mover to envision new ideas and accelerate collective action, the joint secretary said.
