Positive signs of Global Summit seen in Rayalaseema

ANANTAPUR: The Global Summit-2023 has come as an additional boost for investors to set up industries in Rayalaseema region. In addition to employment generation, the drought- hit farmers are hoping to get some benefits from the summit meeting in AP, through proposals for the Green Energy generation projects.

Investors are reportedly ready to set up 20,000 MW power generation projects through Solar and Wind projects for which 1 lakh acres of land is needed. The farmers, or the landholders, get an assured income of an average of Rs 40,000 per year as lease and they also can sow crops in the vacant space.

Rayalaseema region -- in particular Anantapur, Kurnool and a part of Kadapa --are said to be most- feasible for green energy projects. Investors who attended the Global Summit are expressing an interest to establish solar plants in the region.

“The Green Energy units not only provide employment but these are a major advantage to the drought hit farmers who can get an assured income every year in the form of lease amount,” APIIC chairman Mettu Govinda Reddy told DC. Already, Orvakal in Kurnool district has an ongoing Solar Project, said to be the world’s biggest, followed by the project in OD Cheruvu in Satya Sai district.

Ramanjineyulu, a farmer from Rayadurg hoped the solar projects would help thousands of farmers in Anantapur area.

As a mark of Global Summit, bhumi pooja was held for an ancillary unit of KIA Motors near Gudipalli in Somandepalli mandal in Satya Sai district the day after the Global Summit.

Several Hyderabad-based industrialists are targeting Anantapur and Kurnool areas. A company from Hyderabad came forward to establish a food processing unit near Kappalabanda in Puttaparthi mandal. The company representatives have recently visited the area.

Meanwhile, the APIIC had negotiated with Telangana based industrialists to set up a Genome Valley project on the lines of the industry existing in Sangareddy district of Telangana. Land was also kept ready for the exclusive project.

Sreenivasulu, a farmer whose family had suffered attacks from pseudo Naxalites a decade ago, is happy over the rise in land prices in Gorantla area due to industrial growth and new investors looking for private lands.

Officials said the AP government’s new policy of 2023-27 would likely attract more investors to the region.
