Lanxess Commissions New Blending Facility in Gujarat
This facility marks a significant expansion of the company’s lubricant additives business in India and other markers.

Pune: Lanxess, a German specialty chemicals company, has inaugurated a new blending plant for specialty lubricant additives with an investment of Rs 150 crore at its manufacturing site in Jhagadia, Gujarat to cater to customers in India, the Middle East and other global markets.
The facility has been developed with a strong focus on energy efficiency and responsible environmental practices, the company said, adding it is also pursuing partnerships with state-owned oil firms as part of its India growth strategy.

“The new facility is intended to support consistent delivery, faster response, and stronger technical collaboration with customers as demand evolves,” said Hubert Fink, Member of the Board of Management at Lanxess AG.
He added that India has become one of the fastest growing markets for Lanxess, supported by sustained investments, expanding manufacturing capabilities and rise in demand for localized production.
“India stands at the forefront of global economic growth, offering significant opportunities across industries,” Fink noted.
“Through prudent investments and a focus on sustainable growth, we aim to contribute meaningfully to India’s evolving industrial landscape,” he said.
“Lanxess’ lubricant additives business continues to scale its capabilities in India, building closer alignment between global strategy and local execution,” said Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the Business Unit Lubricant Additives, Lanxess.
He said India is the third largest lubricants market in the world and a key growth region for Lanxess. “To participate in this key market, we set up our Application Technology Center in 2025. The commissioning of this new production site in India is a next milestone for us and a strong testament to the ‘Make in India’ initiative,” he noted.
Banerjee said with this plant the company was reinforcing its commitment to customers in the region and other markets with high- quality, innovative lubricant additive solutions.
He said the company also signed an MoU with Indian Oil Corporation Limited, bringing its cutting-edge technologies to the Indian market.
