PVTGs to get MGNREGA wages for full week
Visakhapatnam: Deccan Chronicle had in its report on May 25 highlighted a protest by PVTGs of Ajayapuram village in Cheemalapadu panchayat of Ravikamatham mandal in Anakapalli district over being paid their MGNREGA wages for only four days, instead of all the six days of the week they had worked.
In response, officials including Mandal Project Development Officer H. Bhanoji Rao, APO D.K. Vapparao, and EC D. Kameswara Rao, along with technical assistant V. Ramana, inspected the MGNREGA road works done by Ajayapuram workers.
Following the inspection, officials promised that the PVTGs, who had worked on the project will be paid their MGNREGA wage of ₹300 per day for all the six days.
Deccan Chronicle had highlighted the struggle of MGNREGA workers in Ajayapuram, who have also been seeking 150 days of MGNREGA work for ROFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) holders.
