SBI Warns Public Against Deepfake Videos Promoting Fake Investment Schemes

The State Bank of India has cautioned the public against falling victims to deepfake videos featuring its top management, which is being circulated over social media.

The videos, which are being shared widely on social media, falsely claim that the bank is launching investment schemes offering high or unrealistic returns.
These videos attempt to advise people to invest their money in such schemes, through use of technological, SBI said in a statement.
SBI has clarified that its top officials do not offer or support such investment schemes that promises such unrealistic returns.
“We clarify that SBI or any of its Top Officials do not offer or support any such investment schemes promising unrealistic or unusually high returns,” the statement said.
“Members of the public are, therefore, cautioned against engaging with and falling prey to such deepfake videos circulated over Social Media,” the statement further said.
