Sonet drives Kia's record sales at over 2.55 lakh in 2024
Kia, the South Korean automaker, has achieved its highest-ever annual vehicle deliveries in 2024, led by its popular compact SUV Sonet.
The maker of Seltos and Carnival models delivered 2,55,038 units in 2024, registering a growth of 6 per cent year-on-year over 2,40,919 units delivered in 2023.
The Kia Sonet played a significant role in this achievement, with 1,02,337 units delivered.
Sonet slots in the highly-competitive sub-4 metre compact SUV segment.
Sonet competes with the Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Maruti Suzuki Brezza in the fiercely price conscious car market.
Although Kia did not disclose sales of other key models, it said that the Seltos and the Carens contributed to the company’s growth.
Kia sold over 563 units of the recently launched Carnival Limousine.
“2024 has been a defining one for Kia India. Our focus on ensuring the timely delivery of our vehicles has not only allowed customers to enjoy their favorite Kia models but also strengthened our foundation for future growth,” said Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Kia India.
“As we move into 2025, we are excited about the upcoming launch of the Syros, which promises to redefine the Indian automotive landscape. With this, we will set new industry benchmarks,” he noted.
At present Kia's line-up includes Sonet, Syros, Seltos, Carens, Carnival, EV6 and the EV9.
The company also strengthened its presence in tier-I and tier-II cities, adding 126 new dealerships and 36 certified pre-owned outlets in 2024.
It increased its network to 700 touchpoints across 301 cities during the year.
