Tamil Nadu Tops Startup Ranking, Records Remarkable Growth in 2022
Chennai: Tamil Nadu had leapfrogged to the top position in the Startup Ranking, released by the Department of Promotion for Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for the year 2022 when 2250 startups were registered, Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Wednesday.
Stating that there were 7600 startups functioning now in the State, he said, in his message on X, that the achievement was possible because of the series of measures taken by the DMK government like the setting up of the TANSEED startup capital fund, SC/ST industrial fund and the organization of Launchpad events.
He pointed out that the State was in the bottom of the list in 2018 and had managed to scale the peak and called upon the Minister and officials responsible for the feat to keep up the tempo and climb greater heights.
The State, which was now the ‘Best Performer’ according to DPIIT’s fourth edition of the States’ Startup Ranking, was categorized as the bottom-most ‘Emerging Ecosystem’ in the second edition of the ranking, said StartupTN, the government agency nurturing a benevolent entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Besides the State being recognized as the Best Performer in developing a strong startup ecosystem, Green Viro Global Private Limited, a beneficiary of the TNSEED Fund, won the National Startup Awards 2023 under the Sustainability Champion category.
StartupTN's S2G beneficiary, Atsuya Technologies Pvt Ltd won the award in the Genesis Innovator category.
