Hyderabad: The 22nd edition of BioAsia 2025, Asia’s largest life sciences and healthcare conference, was inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Queensland State Governor Dr Jeannette Young, and Telangana industries minister D. Sridhar Babu.

Revanth Reddy highlighted Hyderabad’s emergence as a global life sciences hub, announcing initiatives like a 360-km Regional Ring Road (RRR) to support pharma, EVs, data centers, and agri-processing hubs. Ten pharma villages between the ORR and RRR are expected to generate 5 lakh jobs. The Green Pharma City project is progressing rapidly, and 17 MoUs signed at BioAsia will boost job creation. A new Life Sciences Policy will focus on cell and gene therapy, genomics, biologics, and advanced R&D.
Sridhar Babu noted Telangana's growing life sciences ecosystem, with companies like Amgen and Miltenyi establishing innovation centers in Hyderabad. The sector has created over 51,000 direct and 1.5 lakh indirect jobs. Initiatives like Young India Skills University and a proposed life sciences university aim to equip the workforce with industry-relevant skills. Telangana is determined to become a key player in the global pharma supply chain, focusing on bulk drugs and generics.
The event featured panel discussions on AI in healthcare, the Indian CRDMO sector, and innovations shaping life sciences. A CEO Conclave titled "India’s Century: Leading the Global Innovation Charge in Life Sciences" concluded the inaugural day, featuring leaders from ISRO, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Laurus Labs, and Novartis.
