Telangana to unveil Life Science Policy soon
11 firms to invest Rs 5,445 crore in Green Pharma City, create 9,800 new jobs

Hyderabad: The government will launch a life sciences policy, which will focus on entering new domains, turning the state into a global pharma hub and attracting more investments into the sector, said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The policy will chart a new growth trajectory for the sector. It will also enable the state to enter domains such as cell and gene therapy, genomics, biologics and precision medicine, peptides, digital innovation, advanced research and development, and complex manufacturing.
Inaugurating BioAsia 2025, the two-day life sciences industry event, here on Tuesday, Revanth Reddy said Telangana had signed memoranda of understanding with 11 pharma companies, including Granules, Orbicular, Aizant, Biological E, Virchow, Virupaksha, Jubilant, Vimta, Aragen, Bharat Biotech, and Sai Life Sciences.
The MoUs entail an investment of Rs 5,445 crore and will create 9,800 new jobs in the proposed Green Pharma City.
Six companies have signed MoUs. With 11 more companies joining the initiative, the total investments proposed by all these firms will reach Rs 11,100 crore and create employment opportunities for over 22,300 people.
BioAsia, which showcases the capabilities of Hyderabad, has transformed into a global life sciences event that is positioning India as a key player in shaping the future of healthcare.
“We invested in higher education and created a vast talent pool of scientists, technologists, domain experts, and engineers. I want to transform my state's economy into a $1-trillion economy in 10 years,” the Chief Minister said.
“We are building the Future City and have envisaged other big projects. Hyderabad is the EV capital of India, with the highest sales of electric vehicles in the country. Plans are afoot to replace 3,000 RTC buses with electric vehicles,” he said.
Explaining his plans for the manufacturing sector in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said: “Outside the core urban area, I want to develop one of the world's largest manufacturing hubs. We are developing pharma villages between the Outer Ring Road and the Regional Ring Road. We hope to generate over 5 lakh new jobs. The Green Pharma City, a key initiative under the Future City project, is progressing rapidly. I want to make it my offer to the world as its China-plus-one alternative.”
Considering that Telangana is a landlocked state, it is developing a mega dry port, which will connect to a seaport in Andhra Pradesh through dedicated rail and road networks. “Our vision is to develop Hyderabad and Telangana into the world’s best and largest ecosystems for biosciences, biotech, and life sciences in innovation, research and development, manufacturing, skills development, and investment,” Revanth Reddy said.
