Opensignal Ranks Vodafone Idea No.1 in 4G Experience in AP, Telangana

Hyderabad: Vodafone Idea (Vi) offers exceptional 4G network experience in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in Opensignal’s 4G Network Experience Report November 2024, where it examines the 4G experience of smartphone 4G users.

In AP & Telangana, Vi has emerged as a leader in 4G network experience across four categories: 4G Download Speed, 4G Video Experience, 4G Live Video Experience and 4G Voice App Experience, implying Vi’s 4G users don’t just enjoy the fastest 4G speeds but also observe the best quality of experience while streaming live videos, using over-the-top (OTT) services and voice services on mobile voice apps when connected to 4G in India.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) on Wednesday reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a superior network experience in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. According to Anand Dani, Cluster Business Head for AP, Telangana, and Karnataka, the company has invested Rs. 4,122 crores in the region over the last few years, with a focus on network expansion and improvement.

Dani stated that Vi has added 900 MHz layers in 3,500 locations, which has improved indoor coverage. Additionally, the company has added 25 MHz of spectrum in 5,000 locations to increase capacity and improve network speeds.
Vi has also expanded its coverage to 96% of the population in AP and Telangana, with plans to reach 100% coverage soon. The company has 11,500 sites in the region, with 500 MHz, 18 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2500 MHz spectrum deployed.
He also announced that Vi will launch 5G services in the region in the fourth quarter of this financial year. The company has acquired 250 MHz of 5G spectrum and is currently conducting pilots.
In terms of customer satisfaction, Dani said that Vi measures several KPIs, including Radio Network Availability (RNA), data speeds, and customer feedback. The company has also launched a unique product called Hero Recharge, which offers free night data for 12 hours.
Dani also highlighted that Vi’s Hero Recharge plan had been a success, with 55-60% of customers opting for the plan. The spokesperson said that the company was committed to delivering a superior network experience and will continue to invest in network expansion and improvement.

Vi has also started working on spam protection services, with SMS protection already launched and call protection in the works. The company is using AI engines to identify and block spam messages and calls.

In an attempt to give back to people, Vi has also devised a unique plan for government employees. Elaborating on the plan, Anand said, “It is one of the most aggressive plans today among all the operators. We are offering 25 GB data for just Rs.199. The plan is exclusively for government employees. We are trying to get government employees on our side, on our network, so that we are able to serve them well as they are serving the country.”

In terms of pricing, Dani said that Vi will follow industry trends and may increase prices in the future. However, there are no plans for a price increase at present.
