CM Chandrababu Naidu unveils Kuppam development plan

TIRUPATI: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has expressed his desire that if he were to be reborn, he would choose to be born in Kuppam again. “I am committed to serving the people who have consistently placed immense faith in me by electing me as their representative for the past eight terms,” he said.

Addressing his first public meeting in Kuppam on Tuesday after becoming Chief Minister for the fourth time, Naidu said, "This visit is to seek the blessings of the Kuppam people. I am burdened with an empty treasury and mysterious debts. Yet I am committed to the cause of rewriting the future of our state," he said.

The Chief Minister said YSRC leaders created chaos in Kuppam. They indulged in extensive granite looting, he said, and vowed to restore order. "Out government will crush rowdyism with an iron fist," he declared.

He unveiled a five-year development plan for Kuppam.

As part of his development agenda, Naidu announced the revival of the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA), which would be overseen by an IAS officer. He pledged to expedite construction of the long-pending Kuppam airport, enhancing logistics and enabling farmers to export perishables via air cargo.

Naidu also promised to improve Internet connectivity across remote villages. His vision for Kuppam includes transforming it into a model municipality, with plans for an outer ring road to improve the infrastructure. He also aims to reorganise the constituency’s four mandals into six for better administration and development.

The CM stressed the importance of completing the HNSS canal to ensure water security, building check dams along the Palar river and establishing cold storages and tomato processing factories to boost local agriculture.

Naidu announced immediate funding for panchayat development, with all major panchayats receiving `2 lakh and minor ones `1 lakh. Acknowledging the youth's role in the recent elections, he promised to create more jobs by setting up industries around Kuppam.

The Chief Minister also said the Dravidian University would be revitalised to make Kuppam an educational hub.

As for the government’s statewide initiatives, Naidu said a new pension policy would be implemented from July 1, with beneficiaries receiving `7,000 at their doorsteps from the Secretariat staff. He also promised simultaneous inauguration of 185 Anna Canteens across the state to combat poverty and said he was aiming to make Kuppam a zero-poverty constituency.

Naidu inspected the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi canal works in Jalliganipalle and Chinnari Doddi villages of Santhipuram mandal on Tuesday morning. He directed the officials to resume the works.

Marking the CM’s visit, Chittoor district self-help groups contributed `4.50 crore for construction of Amaravati's new capital, through a cheque to Naidu.
