An alert has been sounded in the state and a search launched to trace the suspect.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand police today detected a CCTV footage of a terror suspect in Dehradun with seven to eight other unidentified people who could be his associates prompting authorities to sound an alert across the state.

The CCTV footage has been released on WhatsApp with an appeal to people to help track down the suspects, the Director General of Police office said .

An alert has been sounded in the state and a search launched to trace the suspect, a source at the DGP office said.

Coming close on the heels of the arrest of four terror suspects linked with ISIS from Roorkee in Haridwar district, the recovery of the CCTV grab assumes significance.

When contacted, Additional DGP Anil Raturi refused to comment on the CCTV grab for security reasons.

Last week, the Delhi Police had detained a terror suspect from Roorkee in Uttarakhand on Januray 23 after interrogating four men who were arrested from the state on January 20 for alleged links to the ISIS.

The four were allegedly planning to attack the ongoing Kumbh Mela at Haridwar in Uttar Pradesh, trains headed there, as well as strategic locations in the national capital, the police had said.

Thirteen suspected ISIS sympathisers were arrested by the National Investigation Agency last week as part of a nationwide anti-terror sweep ahead of Republic Day.

The arrests were made following simultaneous searches and raids at 12 locations across six cities - Bengaluru, Tumkur and Mangalore in Karnataka, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Lucknow.
