Whitefield woes: Finally government wakes up
BENGALURU: After much persuasion, Whitefield community and members of Outer Ring Road Companies Association have succeeded in organising a meeting with three ministers on January 19 to discuss problems and to find solutions to infrastructure woes. Ahead of Invest Karnataka – 2016, the meeting gains importance as it is expected to take major decisions in terms of sprucing up infrastructure to attract investors. Following a meeting with Information Technology (IT) secretary Rs 30 crore has been assured on development of Outer Ring Road (ORR) between K.R. Puram and Central Silk Board.
Honorary president of Outer Ring Road Companies’ Association (ORRCA) Captain Poornaprajna said that as per the ORR development plan, the stretch between K.R. Puram and Central Silk Board will be taken care of. The plan is to complete the same within six months from the time the work is taken up. This will ease congestion to a major extent on the ORR. This will enhance the investors’ confidence to take part and to invest in the state, he added.
Citizens' group and industry representatives will be discussing their problems and offer possible solutions with Industries and Commerce Minister R. V. Deshpande, City Development Minister K. J. George and IT Minister S. R. Patil. Following campaign from Whitefield Rising, the government has been responding positively to spruce up the infrastructure. Already, black topping has begun across Whitefield and surrounding areas, said R.K. Misra, member of Whitefield Rising.
Even the City Development Minister K. J. George himself has visited the area and personally monitored the progress of development work. After a long persuasion by Whitefield Rising community, which is one of the highest tax paying area, the attention of officials was caught towards the deteriorating and appalling infrastructure. The community has played a tremendous role in getting the infrastructure projects implemented.
