Bengaluru: Woman techie dies in accident

Police said that Madhura had completed M. Tech and had got a job as software engineer in a company located on Victoria Road.

Bengaluru: A 24-year-old software engineer, also a singer, was killed after a milk tanker hit the two-wheeler in which she was riding pillion at Cubbon Road Junction in Cubbon Park traffic police station limits on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Madhura. Her friend Shobha Rao, 26, who was riding the two-wheeler, sustained injuries and is said to be out of danger.

Madhura was the daughter of Ashok Patavardhan and Shantha, who hail from Bagalkot. Her father works as a bank manager and lives in Bagalkot, while Madhura was staying at an apartment in Mutthappa Block near R.T. Nagar, along with her mother and younger brother.

Police said that Madhura had completed M. Tech and had got a job as software engineer in a company located on Victoria Road. Her friend and colleague, Shobha, who stays in Vidyaranyapura, used to pick Madhura everyday to office.

The accident happened when they were on their way to office. “While they were passing at Cubbon Road Junction at 9.50 am, a milk tanker hit their two wheeler.

Shobha fell to her left while Madhura, who was riding pillion wearing a helmet, fell to her right and her head got stuck under the wheels of the tanker. She succumbed on the way to a hospital,” the police said.

“Though Madhura was wearing a helmet, she had not fastened the chin strap. As a result, she fell from the vehicle, the helmet came off.

The accused driver, Anil, has been arrested,” the Cubbon Park traffic police, who have registered a case, added.
