KTR distributes 2000 tabs to students in Rajanna Sircilla

WARANGAL: With a view to raising the standard of government-run schools, the Telangana government has introduced the Mana Ooru-Mana Badi programme and is providing all basic facilities to these schools, minister K.T. Rama Rao has said.

The IT minister distributed tabs to around 2,000 students under the ‘Gift a Smile’ initiative at an event held at the Government Junior College ground in Yellareddypet mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday. Rao said that 1,000 tabs were distributed earlier, and another 2,000 tabs were distributed freely to the students on Tuesday, along with the study materials required for students to face competitive examinations.

“By utilising these properly, the students must excel in the competitive examinations,” he said.

The cost of each tablet piece is ₹10,000 and the study material costs ₹75,000. Investing a total amount of ₹85,000 for each tab, the government distributed them to the students free of cost. “If the students reach a high position by utilizing them, not only their parents but even the government would feel happy,” the minister said.

He said the Yellareddypet junior college will be developed on par with the KG to PG campus present in Gambhiraopet Mandal, like that of a corporate educational institution, with an investment of ₹7 crores. The college ground will be transformed into a mini-stadium.

Later, the minister inaugurated an old age home at Yellareddypet mandal, which was the first such entity established by the TS government, with an investment of ₹40 lahks. It has a capacity of 25 beds.

The minister interacted with the aged persons and inquired about their health conditions. He also played some indoor games with them and then had meals there. He said several elderly people were unable to get proper care from their near and dear ones and hence faced a lot of problems. Taking note, the government set up an old age home and provided it with all kinds of basic facilities through the district administration, he said.

The old age home has a separate place to sit and talk, a garden with flowering plants, a walking track and exercise materials as also a whole building decorated with colourful paintings and the arrangement of a special doctor for the inmates’ regular health check-ups.

ZP chairperson Aruna, district collector Anurag Jayanti, DIG Ramesh Naidu, SP Akhil Mahajan, additional collector Khimya Naik, CESS chairman Rama Rao, TESCOB chairman Ravinder Rao and Libraries department chairman Shankaraiah were present.
