Gadag DDPI Provides School Admissions to Two Children

Gadag: Despite the concerted efforts of the Education Department through the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) to ensure that every child receives free and compulsory primary education, occasional cases of children being deprived of education persist.

Gadag district Deputy Director of Public Instructions MA Radder recently stumbled on two such children during a walk near his residence.

While on a walk near his home, Radder noticed a family living in a small hut. Striking up a conversation with them, he learned that the family had two school-age children, Kumara Santosh Sharanappa Bajappa and Shravani Sharanappa Bajappa, who had never set foot inside a school.

Surprised by this revelation, the DDPI inquired about the education coordinator and department officials, only to discover that the children's names were not registered in any nearby school. Upon further discussion with the parents, the parents told the officer about the lack of Aadhaar cards for their enrollment.

Swift action was taken to secure Aadhaar cards for the family. Simultaneously, the DDPI facilitated the admission of the children to the Government Higher Primary School (No 9) at Adarsh Nagar, Gadag, located in close proximity to their residence on September 30.
They were provided uniforms and necessary textbooks.

To prevent such cases of children missing out on education, the DDPI has issued instructions to all department officials to conduct a special drive within a month to identify and enroll such children.
