Vijayawada Government Dental College gets 15 more PG seats
Vijayawada: Dental Council of India (DCI) has sanctioned 15 additional post-graduation seats in five disciplines to Government Dental College, Vijayawada. Enrolment for the new 15 seats will commence from current academic year 2023-24. The college already has nine PG seats in various disciplines.
Welcoming the sanction of additional seats, YSRC Doctors Wing zonal in-charge of Krishna, Guntur and NTR districts Dr. Mehaboob Shaik said the sanction of additional seats comes after a team of DCI inspected the available facilities at the Vijayawada Government Dental College in September last year.
Dr. Shaik recalled that earlier, minorities got four percent reservations in admissions during the regime of Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. Now, his son Jagan Mohan Reddy is continuing that legacy of helping minorities, SCs, STs and BCs. With 24 PG seats now available, more students of state will be able to take up their specialisation in the two government colleges in AP, rather than enrolling in private dental colleges.
YSR Congress Medical Wing president Dr. Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav said thanks to CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, 50 percent of the additional PG dental seats will be available for economic and social development of BC, SC, ST and minority students.
He recalled that the Chief Minister had earlier got permission for 630 PG seats in 11 medical colleges of the state, which will be of great help the weaker sections and minorities. The economic and social status of their families will change as a result, Dr. Yadav underlined.
